Chuckychops old fashioned bread puddin??

Posted by me on December 13, 2020 at 2:30 AM Comments comments (3)

My Dad used to make a mean old fashioned bread puddin’, my mum only ever ate it hot and the rest of the family only ever ate it cold... either way it’s a perfect way to utilise stale bread. Dads secret was to use leftover brewed tea from the pot, and a good sprinkle of crunchy white sugar on the top after baking.... it's the little things ❤️❤️❤️ &...

Wham-Bam Lam-ingtons

Wham -Bam - Laming-tons are the Ozzie version of a traditional English Madeleine cake, the good thing about them is you don’t need any fancy schmancy baking tins, just a square baking tin and so are much easier to make. I love them served for afternoon tea, and sometimes in the summer, I decorate them with fresh edible flowers, violas or even rose...

When I was young, we used to make the filling for lemon meringue from a little box , I think it was made by a company called Greens but I couldn't swear on it. You added the water to a sachet in a small saucepan and cooked over a low heat until a little gelatine capsule burst , filling the kitchen with mouth watering aromas of zesty lemon. This yummy pu...

During the second world war, rationing meant that sugar, butter and chocolate were rare, precious commodities that needed to be savoured. When I was in Junior school in Aldershot, Hampshire, I used to bake cakes and cookies and fry chips, selling them for a few pence to the neighbourhood kids... all whilst my parents were at work! I was so frightened of setting the house on fire that I never cooked the chips fully, they were barely brown, mostly hard but drenched in salt and vinegar and s...
