I cannot imagine anything more British than sitting with your feet up on the sofa, watching slushy soap operas with a steaming mug of tea and a biscuit or three and these traditional Bourbon biscuits fit the bill perfectly, the only decision that has to be made is whether to dunk or not to dunk…..

Bourbon biscuits (or Bourbon creams) originated i...

Flying monkey pudding with Kentucky Bourbon and maple sauce?.

Its amazing where you get inspiration from... This decadent little number came to me one evening whilst watching a documentary about rescued baby orangutans in an orphanage in Borneo and got me thinking about bananas. Bananas led onto chocolate which then went wildly off tack and took me in the direction of the deep south and Kentucky Bourbon. After a bit o...

Makes 16

I love a challenge, it gets my little grey cells ticking over and a whoosh of adrenaline to my heart especially if it’s anything to do with baking.

My magazine editor requested recipes that were not only sugar free but also delicious as well, a tall order as far as I was concerned as cakes, biscuits and baked goodies all need the ...

Gluten...Schmooten... who needs that old chestnut in their cakes and bakes???

This totally gorgeous chocolate fudge cake was bought about by the need to create gluten free recipes that could fool someone not suffering from IBS or a gluten intolerance. As far as I am concerned I would never make or bake anything that I wouldn't want to eat m...

Ooh la la, its nearly that time again when grown men scour the florists (in the case of my husband…. the nearest supermarket) for a bunch of red roses that doesn’t cost the national deficit of a small country and will remain alive for longer than a few hours hidden in the back of the car…

Yes my friends it’s the month of L’amour...

Nowadays people from Norfolk are sometimes known by the name of Norfolk dumplings (a rather uncomplimentary comparison to the flour dumplings that were traditionally a significant part of the local diet) but I think that if some hairy leg...

Hazelnut finger biscuits

I used to work at a hotel in Hampshire many hundreds of years ago and I would bake these crisp little finger biscuits as petit fours, served with afternoon tea or at the end of a meal with a nice little cup of espresso, they are like a grown up version of Ferrero Rocher and absolutely delicious. I have even boxed them up in the past and given them as edible...
